As a board-certified Family Medicine physician, I’ve become frustrated over the reactive nature of modern medicine and believe more emphasis needs to be placed on preventive aspects. Since medical school failed to provide dietary or nutritional training, I started researching on my own and was amazed with I discovered. Turns out weight control is much more complex than the often-preached “calories in vs calories out” paradigm. I had tried every diet imaginable, including veganism, to control my weight, migraines and auto-immune disease. Eventually they all failed!
Until Keto. Eating a low-carb, moderate protein, high fat diet allowed me to take control of my health, wean off medications and regain energy. My passion and commitment to nutrition have led to preparation for another board exam to specialize in Obesity Medicine. Certification should be obtained by early 2020. Helping others prevent or improve disease through diet and life-style is my calling.
